Speaker: Mona Sadek, Deputy Head of Mission, International Committee of the Red Cross, London

Biography: Mona Sadek is the Deputy Head of Mission for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This role involves engagement with political, military and non-government interlocutors on a range of issues related to the humanitarian work in armed conflict and other situations of violence carried out by the ICRC. Last year Mona was mobilised to Libya to lead the ICRC's protection response, while prior to this she was responsible for all programmes in Afghanistan involving protection of the civilian population, detention visits, and the restoration of family links in her role as Protection Coordinator. She has also worked with the ICRC in Gaza, Liberia, Serbia and Montenegro, and Jordan.
