Our shared world: reconciling individual and collective needs

Over five weeks, ‘Our Shared World’ will explore in depth four global challenges being investigated by the Oxford Martin School's newest research programmes.

The subjects of this lecture series are diverse - how to create a sustainable future for the world’s oceans; the role of businesses and investors in reducing carbon emissions; how to overcome the barriers to integration of renewable energy; and collective responsibility for infectious disease.

A panel debate in the final week of the series will explore the thread that links them; in a world where resources are under pressure, how do we resolve the tension between individual and collective needs, between short term gains and long term risks?
