About the Speaker:

Dr Alessandro Guazzi obtained his DPhil in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Oxford. Alongside three colleagues, he founded Sentimoto in 2013, with the aim of becoming the first company to tackle behavioural diagnosis and intervention in older adults.

Abstract:

The first step to behaviour as a therapy is measurement. Sensors allow novel ways of measuring and representing behaviours to objectively describe and quantify complex diseases. Can the smartphone become the right tool for monitoring age-related disorders in older adults? In this talk, Alessandro will explore the role of smartphones in extracting novel metrics developed to understand behaviour beyond step count in older adults, and the barriers and challenges for this technology in this population.
