Tidal Power

Programme on Globalising Tidal Power Generation

What are we doing?
We examine how to make use of a globally abundant supply of low speed tidal flow resources to deliver clean and affordable renewable power across the globe.

Why is it important?
In addition to changing the way we use energy, there is an urgent need to develop a diverse stream of clean and affordable renewable energy generation technologies. Tidal power presents a huge, as yet untapped, opportunity to generate clean and affordable power.

How are we different?
The Programme supports research that will substantially increase the number of tidal sites from which energy can be harnessed economically, and will help shape policy and debate in the tidal energy sector.
