RSS in Firefox

Assuming you have the latest version of Firefox installed (at time of writing, version 2.0.0.1), you can easily harness RSS feeds in several ways.

Using RSS feeds as "Live Bookmarks"

"Live Bookmarks" are automatically updating favourites or bookmarks which let you see if there are any new additions to a website without actually having to visit it.

To start a new live bookmark in Firefox 2.0, follow these steps:

1) Look for the RSS Icon on the right of the address bar at the top of your browser

2) Click on the icon. That will load a screen displaying the contents of the RSS feed. Here is an example of one of the BBC's RSS feeds:

3) At the top of this page, you now have the option of subscribing to the RSS feed in either the RSS reader of your choice, or by using Live Bookmarks from within Firefox

4) Click "Subscribe" to open a prompt - this will ask you where you'd like to save the live bookmark

Select the folder you wish to save to, and click "OK"

Now you can visit the bookmark to see the latest updates
