Professor David Marshall was Co-Director of the 21st Century Ocean Institute, a member of the Oxford Martin School from 2008-2012. He remains connected with the School through his role as an Oxford Martin Senior Fellow.

David's research interests lie in understanding the fluid dynamics of the global ocean circulation and the role of the oceans in climate. Work mainly involves the development of theoretical and computational models to elucidate the fluid dynamics of the global ocean circulation.

David is Professor of Physical Oceanography & Head of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics at the University of Oxford.
