The current focus of my research is to uncover the molecular mechanisms by which polarity proteins, which define the apical-lateral domain in epithelial cells, regulate fate during embryonic development. Using loss and gain of function experiments, I am particularly interested in understanding how these proteins regulate downstream signalling molecules. These include the transcriptional co-regulators YAP and TAZ, which play a key role during the first cell fate decision when the inner cell mass differentiates from the trophectoderm.
