Ms. Vashti Maharaj is the Director Legal Services at the Ministry of Science and Technology, which serves as the national coordinating and governing agency responsible for Science, Technology and Innovation within the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
For the past decade she has worked extensively on national and regional projects in the primary areas of e-governance, electronic commerce, telecommunications, data protection and cyber security from a policy and regulatory perspective and has been involved in Projects led by ITU-HIPCAR, Caribbean Telecommunications Union and Commonwealth Connects.
She currently serves as the principal legal advisor in relation to the negotiation and contracting of enterprise-wide ICT solutions and software licensing for her government and is working on key projects related to internet governance, broadband strategy as well as the development of a national coordinated cyber security strategy. This informs her keen professional and academic interest and involvement in legal and regulatory frameworks in the sphere of cyber security.
