DPhil Candidate, Geography and the Environment

Alexander is studying for a DPhil in Geography and the Environment at the University of Oxford, with a focus on Stranded Carbon Assets and their effects on Financial Markets.

He holds a M.Sc. (German “Diploma") in Business Administration and Management from the University of Mannheim in Germany. During his M.Sc. studies Alexander focused on Corporate Finance, Asset Valuation and Financial Markets and his master thesis analysed the short time effects of short selling bans on market liquidity and other relevant stock market measures.

Before Alexander started his DPhil in Oxford, from 2011-14 he worked for McKinsey & Company in Germany, where he mainly worked for distressed companies in the renewable energies and energy efficiency sector (primarily PV and LED lighting). He has also worked at KPMG, UBS Investment Bank and as a volunteer for the “New Climate Economy Project” of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate.

His research interests are: stranded carbon assets and the carbon bubble, energy policy, effects of climate policies on financial markets, carbon tax, carbon emissions trading systems.
