People Dr Scot Wheeler
Oxford Martin Fellow, Oxford Martin Programme on Integrating Renewable Energy
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Scot is a postdoctoral researcher in the Engineering Science Department, and a Fellow of the Oxford Martin Programme on Integrating Renewable Energy. His research interests are motivated by the transition to a more distributed energy system, resulting from increasing levels of renewable generation, and how smart solutions can help manage this. As part of the OxFutures programme, Scot is focused on the opportunities to integrate new and existing renewable energy throughout Oxfordshire, working closely with local SMEs in the low carbon energy sector.
After studying for an MSci in Chemistry with Molecular Physics, Scot completed a PhD in Physics, at Imperial College London, as part of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Plastic Electronics; his research concerned the study of charge recombination losses in perovskite and organic photovoltaic devices. Before starting at Oxford, Scot worked with the Grantham Institute, also based at Imperial College, looking at minigrids to support rural electrification in developing countries.
