Ernesto Carrella is a Postdoctoral Research Officer at the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, working under Richard Bailey on an agent-based model of fishery management.
He earned his PhD from the Department of Computational Social Science at George Mason University. His dissertation focused on simulating trial and error agents through PID controllers to see how they stumble to equilibrium (or fail to do so).
He builds and maintains POSEIDON, an agent-based model of fisheries.
As part of the Oxford Martin Programme on Sustainable Oceans he is building a policy simulator that can be used to predict how fishers will adapt to new fishing regulations with an eye on better, simpler and more effective rules.
