Mike Rayner’s research interests lie in public health promotion, contributing to the development of effective methods for the primary prevention of cardiovascular disease.

His group carries out research in several areas, including:

  • diet and nutrition, assessing the environmental determinants of dietary behaviour and modelling and evaluating population based interventions aimed at promoting healthier eating;
  • obesity, looking at the possible legislative approaches to obesity prevention and examining the role of environmental exposures to explaining obesity rates in children.
