Professor Miles Hewstone

Professor of Social Psychology

Miles Hewstone is Professor of Social Psychology at the University of Oxford, and Fellow of New College.

His research focuses on intergroup contact, and recent research has focussed on longitudinal studies, extended contact, the secondary transfer effect, and effects of diversity. He has been actively involved in public policy input relating to improving intergroup relations in the United Kingdom, including The Equalities Review, Cabinet Office, the Commission on Integration and Cohesion, the Department for Communities and Local Government, and the Department for Education. Miles has received a number of awards, including, most recently, the Codol Medal (2014) from the European Association of Social Psychology.
