What are negative emissions technologies?

We don't stand any chance of stabilising the atmosphere at two degrees Celsius without taking active steps to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Negative emissions technologies (NETS) are a range of undeveloped technologies designed to do this, ranging from artificial trees to ocean fertilisation. Professor Steve Rayner was speaking at the Next Big Thing series of events in London.
