The Oxford Martin School led the University of Oxford's IdeasLab at the World Economic Forum's Davos meeting in January. This was the seventh year that the School organised the creative thinking session with world leaders from business and government.
Leading the discussion on 'preserving our global commons' was Professor Ian Goldin, Director of the Oxford Martin School, who gave an introduction on why issues surrounding governance of the commons were becoming more urgent.
Professor Sadie Creese, Director of the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre; Professor Alex Rogers, Professor of Conservation Biology; and Professor Cameron Hepburn, Director of the Economics of Sustainability programme at the Institute of New Economic Thinking all gave their perspective in intense five minute presentations.
Discussions then followed with the 60 IdeasLab attendees on the roles of the private sector, governments and civil society in overcoming the climate, ocean and cybersecurity challenges detailed by the academics.
