The Oxford Martin Programme on

Globalising Tidal Power Generation

This research programme ran from 2011 - 2014 and the following page is an archived resource. The centre continues its work as part of the Department of Engineering Science.

We examine how to make use of a globally abundant supply of low speed tidal flow resources to deliver clean and affordable renewable power across the globe.

In addition to changing the way we use energy, there is an urgent need to develop a diverse stream of clean and affordable renewable energy generation technologies.

Tidal power presents a huge, as yet untapped, opportunity to generate clean and affordable power.

The Programme supports research that will substantially increase the number of tidal sites from which energy can be harnessed economically, and will help shape policy and debate in the tidal energy sector.
