The environmental sciences are highly diverse and interdisciplinary. Vast quantities of environmental data are being collected daily from satellites, in-situ instruments and computer simulations. All these sources of information must be brought together if we are to understand what is really going on in our environment. In this talk Jonathan Blower will discuss how new technology can help us to cope with this data deluge, enabling us to do exciting science and to ensure that these scientific results are put to good use in industry and public policymaking.
