What is energy? How has it shaped our world? How are ideas and practices around energy production and use evolving in our climate critical times? Is energy intertwined with extractivism?

We invite colleagues from across disciplines to reflect briefly on such fundamental questions as energy, including green energy, take centre stage in debates around climate change and the future of the planet. We will start with brief contributions from our panellists then open the floor to different disciplinary perspectives.

Panellists: Jon Blundy (Earth Sciences); Joe Browning (Music); Javier Lezaun (STS and Anthropology); Caitlin McElroy (Smith School: Enterprise and the Environment); Pablo Mukherjee, (English); Amanda Power, (History); Nikita Sud (International Development).

This event is organised by Climate Crisis Thinking in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

This is an in-person event, and vegetarian/vegan lunch will be provided.
