The talk will address the need for a 21st century sustainable and secure financial framework for forest carbon (and other ecosystem services payments). The framework which has been worked on over the past two years will be introduced with clear explanations of how this impacts forests and land-management.

Mr. Gabriel Thoumi, Project Developer for Forest Carbon Offsets LLC (www.forestcarbonoffsets.net), provides global technical forestry and financial carbon offset asset business development consulting in the compliance and voluntary carbon markets. He frequently presents globally at conferences, workshops, educational institutions, and symposiums on themes related to frameworks for sustainable finance, ecosystem services, and forest carbon. He also regularly publishes on technical and business market developments related to ecosystem services. He has an MBA from the Ross School of Business, an MSc from the School of Natural Resources and Environment, and a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Development from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning all from the University of Michigan. He is also a CFA Level III Candidate and he has an MIM from the University of St. Thomas.
