Speaker: Olav Ofstad, ELAC Visiting Fellow (2011)

Biography: Olav Ofstad is an independent researcher and consultant in the field of conflict management, humanitarian assistance and development. A lawyer by education, he has worked as a diplomat at Norwegian embassies and NORAD in Pakistan and India, with UNHCR in Bosnia, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Serbia, and within the Red Cross Movement in Asia and the Balkans. More recently he was responsible for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) International Disaster Response Law programme in the Asia Pacific region. His current research focuses on peace-building failures in East Timor, where he was Head of Delegation for IFRC during the 2006 crisis.
