Professor Wendy Loretto, Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Director of Undergraduate Programmes in Business and Accounting, University of Edinburgh

Bio: After graduating, Professor Loretto was employed as a commercial manager with Marks and Spencer plc. She worked for three years in University of Edinburgh Alcohol Research Group, and her PhD investigated social and cultural aspects of illicit and licit drug use amongst young people.

Recent and on-going research work includes: (i) the effects of organisational change on employee health and wellbeing; and (ii) investigation of age-based discrimination in employment, and changing approaches to managing diversity and equal opportunities. In relation to (i), is writing up findings from a 3-year multi-disciplinary study into organisational change within the NHS (funded by Medical Research Council). In relation to (ii), is involved in several projects: employability of older workers; investigation of age and retirement within the telecoms industry; and options for extending/sustaining working lives.
