Ian Goldin, Director of the Oxford Martin School, spoke about his latest book and answered audience questions at an event at the UK's leading independent think tank on international development and humanitarian issues, the Overseas Development Institute (ODI).
Introducing Professor Goldin, the ODI's director of research, Andrew Norton, said he would "thoroughly recommend" the book, 'Divided Nations: Why global governance is failing and what we can do about it', adding: "It's a very intriguing and informative read."
Explaining how he came to write the book, Professor Goldin said: "It's an issue which I increasingly feel is at the very centre of questions regarding the future of development but also more broadly the future of the world.
"The reason I wrote the book was really bringing together a lot of the experience that I've had in different institutes and different roles over the years with my writing on different aspects of globalisation, and coming to a sense that there needs to be a much wider and deeper debate about how the world is managed."
