Professor Oliver Pybus, Co-Director of the Oxford Martin Programme on Pandemic Genomics, has been awarded the Mary Lyon Medal from the Genetics Society.

The annual award, named after the distinguished geneticist Mary Lyon FRS, was established in 2015 to reward outstanding research in genetics to scientists who are in the middle of their research career. Having been awarded this medal, Professor Pybus will be invited to present a lecture at the centennial meeting of the Genetics Society in 2019.

Professor Pybus said: "I’m honoured, and it’s a great privilege to join the previous recipients of the medal. I’m deeply grateful to all my colleagues and collaborators, without whom my research couldn’t happen. I feel lucky to be working in such a vibrant and exciting field of biology."
