The School has opened its latest round of funding for 2024/25 and is inviting Expressions of Interest for high-risk and high-reward research that are solutions-focused and could have a major impact on the wellbeing of current and future generations from across the University of Oxford.
Dr Jean-Charles Buffet, Research and Programmes Manager at the Oxford Martin School, said:
‘We continue our push to identify cutting edge, multidisciplinary research projects that meets the vision of our founder Dr James Martin to deliver solutions to 21st century challenges.
‘We ask that our programmes, as usual, demonstrate a clear and feasible pathway to delivering impact and implementation – from innovations in the sciences to expert advice and policy recommendations.'
The School is inviting Expressions of Interest that addresses the School’s mission and which addresses the following questions:
- Scale: does the project address a contemporary challenge of global significance?
- Excellence: does the project involve research of the highest international standard?
- Impact: will this research make a major positive difference in the world beyond academia, and how will this be achieved?
- Additionality: what is novel about the proposed research, and why should this research be funded by the Oxford Martin School, rather than by another funder?
Researchers are encouraged to read the full application guidelines and eligibility criteria prior to the development of a formal Expression of Interest and to contact Jean-Charles on jean-charles.buffet@oxfordmartin.ox.ac.uk for any queries.
It is anticipated that the Oxford Martin School will contribute £100,000 to £1 million per project over a period of one to five years. The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 5pm on Monday 24th February 2025.
