ICERT (Institute for Carbon and Energy Reduction in Transport) is working together with GnewtScoot to gather data on the real world use of electric scooters. This data will be used to help with the modeling of electric vehicles. Although it is a small targeted trial, it will enable understanding of how real people interact with the new technology.

Gnewt Scoot is designing and implementing an electric motorcycle and scooter trial in the Oxford area in partnership with Oxford University’s Transport Study Unit and Department of Engineering Science. Participating organisations also include Oxford Brookes and Oxford City Council.

The trial is recruiting a number of staff members at Oxford University to utilize the scooters on a daily basis, principally as a means of commuting to and from work.
