Dr Sugandha Srivastav

Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Economics

Sugandha’s research interests include the economics of clean innovation, the political economy of energy transitions and the design of climate policies in low and middle-income countries.

Sugandha has worked on climate policies and green industrial strategy across a host of different contexts including the UK, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and South Africa. Sugandha is involved with the Oxford Martin Programme on the Post-Carbon Transition and the programme on Technological and Economic Change. She is particularly interested in policies to incentivise investment and decarbonisation in the power sector.

Previously, Sugandha worked as an economist at Vivid Economics where she focused on energy policy, natural resource management, and sustainable growth. Her clients included development finance institutions, national governments, and private firms. Prior to that Sugandha worked at the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations in New Delhi.

Sugandha holds a DPhil in Environmental Economics from Oxford, a MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a BSc in Economics, Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick.

At Oxford, Sugandha is affiliated with St Antony's College, the Smith School of Enterprise and Environment, and the Institute of New Economic Thinking.
