Ben Garfinkel is the Director of the Centre for the Governance of AI. He is a member of the Institute for Advanced Study AI Policy and Governance Working Group and the Center for a New American Security AI Governance Forum.

His own research explores the security implications of artificial intelligence and the methodological challenge of forecasting risks from technology. He earned a degree in Physics and in Mathematics and Philosophy from Yale University, before studying for a DPhil in International Relations at the University of Oxford.
