Dr Lawrence Tucker

Head of Clinical Neurology

Dr Lawrence Tucker heads the Clinical Neurology Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital and the Division of Neurology at the University of Cape Town (UCT), where he is also Director of Postgraduate Neurology Training.

He is currently President of the College of Neurologists of South Africa, as well as Vice- and Past President of the Neurological Association of South Africa. He was an undergraduate and specialised as a neurologist in Cape Town (UCT) and has an MSc from the University of London, as well as a PhD from the University of Cambridge.

Lawrence and his colleagues have created EEGonline - an online distance learning program designed to assist in the training of career neurology registrars in the principles and practice of clinical electroencephalography in resource-poor settings.

His interests include teaching and training in clinical neurology, epilepsy, epilepsy surgery and clinical neurophysiology.
