Gilbert Katana

Clinical Officer

Gilbert Katana is a clinical officer at the KEMRI Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Kilifi Kenya. He offers comprehensive clinical care to patients with epilepsy and evaluations of patients with other neurological and mental disorders.

Gilbert's expertise lies in electroencephalogram (EEG) recording, working closely with the Oxford Martin School Global Epilepsy Programme in Oxford to provide EEGs for people with epilepsy in rural Kenya. These recordings are being used to validate EEG prototypes designed by the Global Epilepsy Programme's Engineering Team.

Gilbert also works on community awareness for epilepsy and other neurological disorders through radio programs and engagement of community health units.
