Kerstin Hötte
Oxford Martin Fellow
Kerstin is a Postdoctoral Researcher of the Oxford Martin Programme on Technological and Economic change.
She studied economics at the Universities Tübingen and Bonn in Germany, and obtained her PhD in a joint degree programme from the universities Paris-1 Sorbonne-Panthéon and Bielefeld.
Her research focuses on the economics of technology transitions when an incumbent technology is replaced by an entrant alternative.
In her PhD, she developed the theoretical foundations of a macroeconomic transition model and technological learning dynamics using agent-based simulations. In subsequent projects, she works on the empirical foundations of technology-specific capabilities, learning and industrial evolution.
Her empirical work builds on the interactions between science, technology and input-output networks. A major application of her work is the transition to climate-friendly technology.
