Dr Monique Andersson

Clinical Infection Consultant

Dr Monique Andersson is a Clinical Infection consultant at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Oxford and the Director of the Microbiology Diagnostic Service located in the John Radcliffe hospital.

The laboratory processes more than 600,000 specimens annually from in-patients in the Trust and around 115 GP practices located in Oxfordshire. It serves a population of ~680,000. She is also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Oxford, and an Extraordinary Associate Professor of Medical Virology at the University of Stellenbosch, Cape Town, South Africa.

As well as her wealth of clinical and diagnostics expertise, she will enable direct comparisons of current gold-standard diagnostic systems with novel technologies developed as a result of this programme, advise on the clinical implications of study findings, and facilitate access to clinical specimens and relevant microbes.
