Professor Graham Fieggen

Head of Neurosurgery Division at University of Cape Town

Professor Graham Fieggen is Head of Division at the University of Cape Town, Head of Clinical Department, Neurosurgery at Groote Schuur Hospital and a Paediatric Neurosurgeon at the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital.

He is also Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Cape Town and has been the project leader and Director of the new Neuroscience Institute at UCT - an exciting initiative launched in 2016 as the first neuroscience centre on the African continent. The Institute serves as a hub for neuroscience in all its forms, across various research groups and clinical sites around Cape Town, South Africa, and Africa. The Institute will also create and curate Africa’s first biobank for brain and blood samples from clinics.

Graham has been President of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (2018) and Vice President of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (2017-2019). His interests include paediatric neurosurgery, functional neurosurgery, global surgery, education and training in surgery and neuroscience.
