David Howey is Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, with research interests in energy storage engineering. He is also a director of the Oxford Martin Programme on Circular Battery Economies.

He is currently PI for the EPSRC DIGEST project on grid energy storage, and heads work within multiple Faraday Institution, UKRI and EU projects. He is on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics and Oxford Open Energy and co-founder of Brill Power, commercialising novel energy storage solutions.

Driven by a long-standing interest in batteries for emerging economies, David co-founded Oxford-based battery management spin-out company, Brill Power Ltd.
