Samuel Allen

Oxford Martin School Fellow

Sam is a postdoctoral research associate for the Oxford Martin School Pandemic Genomics Programme project 'Towards Equitable Genomic Surveillance: Understanding Bias and Accessibility in Pandemic Genomics' in association with the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies.

His research takes a mixed-methods approach to understanding the question of equitability in the collection, processing, sharing, and use of genomic datasets in infectious disease outbreak settings, and how this influences knowledge production and response to emerging threats.

Sam is currently finishing a DPhil in the School of Geography and the Environment, which is focussed on the spatial epidemiology of Lyme disease in the United Kingdom. Prior to this, he completed a BA in Geography and an MPhil in Population Health Sciences (Infectious Diseases) at the University of Cambridge.
