Shaheen Naseer

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

Shaheen Naseer is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford. At Oxford University, she is affiliated with multiple groups; she is a fellow at the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE), an associate member of Economics department, and a Senior fellow at St. Antony’s College.

Shaheen is an applied microeconomist specializing in the use of original and administrative data, field experiments, and rigorous empirical methods to address policy-relevant inquiries. Her research focuses on key areas in state capacity, development, and labor economics, covering motivations, career incentives, human capital, and the policy "production function" for bureaucrats. Additionally, Shaheen explores topics related to preferences and social norms. Before joining Oxford University, she was an Assistant Professor at the Lahore School of Economics in Pakistan. She earned her PhD from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
