What kinds of inventions tend to have the biggest impacts? Researchers from the Institute for New Economic Thinking at the Oxford Martin School and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology studied U.S. Patent Office filings going all the way back to 1836 to consider inventions as novel combinations of existing technological capabilities.
