Oxford Martin Principles for Climate-Conscious Investment

The Oxford Martin Principles provide a framework for engagement between climate-conscious investors and companies across the global economy. Building upon the science of long-term climate change, they focus on how investments contribute to the global stock of cumulative carbon dioxide emissions, complementing other measures, such as carbon footprinting, that focus on emission flows.

This briefing is adapted from Millar, R.J., Hepburn, C., Beddington, J. and Allen, M.R., Principles to guide investment towards a stable climate, Nature Climate Change 8, 2-4 (2018).
