The Oxford Martin School is a stunning building, located in the very heart of Oxford’s historic centre.
An award-winning refurbishment in 2013 has transformed a beautiful 19th century building into a modern and spacious centre, ideal for lectures and meetings. Used primarily for the Oxford Martin School’s own events, we are also one of The FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival’s key venues and each year welcome a small number of external bookings.
The Lecture Theatre
The Oxford Martin Lecture Theatre is our largest space and can seat up to 180 attendees.
Its first-floor location provides stunning views over Broad Street and is a fantastic focal point for the School's activities.
The furniture in the Lecture Theatre is all portable. It can be set-up with between 50 and 180 chairs, in either lecture style (as shown in the photo) or in a less formal semi-circle facing the windows with the view down Broad Street. This is particularly good for panel discussions and book talks.
The space can also be arranged with tables for panel discussions and in boardroom style for up to 44. For this type of setting tables will need to be hired in.
The Lecture Theatre's facilities include stage, lectern, screen(s), projector, sound projection, live webcast and event recording.
The seminar rooms are very versatile and can be used for a variety of different functions including meetings, lectures, seminars and buffet lunches. Both rooms have a projector, screen and either whiteboard or blackboard.
In lecture style, Seminar Room 1 can seat up to 65 people. When combined with Seminar Room 2 via a moving partition, it can seat up to 110. In boardroom style, we can accommodate a maximum of 28 people.
The Conference Room is a small meeting room for up to eight people. The room's facilities include: conference phone, TV (screen for presentations), DVD player and whiteboard.
Our Lecture Theatre features state of the art Audio Visual facilities, including live webcasting via three remote Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras, a wireless microphone and PA system, Blu-ray playback and high definition recording facilities. For popular events, we can also provide an overflow facility into the adjacent café and seminar rooms.
We can incorporate 'picture in picture' outputs to display the speaker in addition to their slides, and also provide point to point IP based video conferencing facilities, straight into the Lecture Theatre. The system is based around a 16x16 Crestron video matrix, and uses a Tricaster 460 for live switching, editing and broadcast.
The Oxford Martin School is unable to provide any catering. All catering - including tea and coffee - must be ordered in separately.
