The record for the recent workshop "Policy Foresight and Global Catastrophic Risks" has now been published. The Policy Foresight Programme, in conjunction with Oxford’s Future of Humanity Institute, held a one day workshop on 21 July 2008 to discuss catastrophic threats to civilization.

It followed from a detailed conference on Global Catastrophic Risks, and developed conclusions for policy. The day focused on identifying (a) what the biggest threats are, and (b) what we can do to reduce their risk or prepare to minimize their impact. The workshop engaged academics from Europe and America with policymakers on issues that are usually outside the realm of policymaking, but which could have significant impact on the functioning of society as a whole.
