Dr Mark Bernhofen

Research Associate

Mark Bernhofen is a Research Associate at the Global Finance and Economy Group at the Environmental Change Institute and the Lead on Risk Analytics for Adaptation Finance in the Resilient Planet Finance Lab.

Mark received his PhD from the University of Leeds in 2022 on global flood risk modelling and has previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment.

His current research focuses on climate risk analytics to support adaptation finance, particularly in Emerging and Developing Economies. As part of the Oxford Martin Systemic Resilience Initiative, he conducts research on sovereign climate financial risk and linking climate risk and adaptation to sovereign credit ratings.
