Professor Jacob Mugumbate

Researcher

Professor Jacob Mugumbate is a researcher at Bindura University, Zimbabwe and the University of Newcastle, Australia.

His current research is on disability, employment and social justice in the context of people with epilepsy in Zimbabwe. Dr Mugumbate's PhD in Social Work was on disability, employment and social justice in the context of people with epilepsy in Zimbabwe. He practiced at Epilepsy Support Foundation and was, until last year, African Region Chairperson of the International Bureau for Epilepsy. He currently chairs the social work taskforce of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). Jacob also works with the Epilepsy Resource Centre in Zimbabwe and the Epilepsy Alliance Africa (EAA) based in Rwanda.

He is a member of both Australian Association of Social Workers and National Association of Social Workers (NASW-Zimbabwe). As a member of NASW-Zimbabwe, he coordinates African Journal of Social Work and edits The Social Worker newsletter.
