Poly(carbonate-b-esters) were designed that undergo strain-induced crystallization in the polycarbonate rubbery mid-segment and are reinforced by reversible ionic interactions in the outer semi-aromatic polyester blocks. The thermoplastic elastomers show impressive tensile strength, high elastic recovery and are degradable in aqueous alkali media or chemically recyclable to monomer.
